Rise And Fall Of The Clash Official

Well folks … it’s official … the documentary “The Rise And Fall Of The Clash” by Danny Garcia is nearing completion. From the shores of Spain the DVD will be released in the US, hopefully, in August of 2012. Many of my Clash photos on my blog, will be included in this documentary. And frankly, I’m not sure which ones will be used until I get to see a finished version … soon I hope! There had been so many setbacks for Danny in the…Continue Reading “It’s Official: The Rise And Fall Of The Clash”

For The People By The People

“For The People. By The People.” I came to the Clash as a fan. I heard the British import of their first self titled album when it first came out … and I was hooked! When I went to the Palladium to see them for the first time in 1980, I went as a fan, who happened to bring his camera. And even as I gained access to get back stage at Bonds (thanks Brenda!) or got guest listed to the three Asbury Park shows…Continue Reading “For The People. By The People. Clash Asbury Lost2

This past Memorial Day weekend marked the 29th anniversary of the Clash shows in Asbury Park, NJ, that started the U.S. tour for Combat Rock. I wrote about it in a previous post The Clash @ Asbury Park Convention Hall 1982. Over the weekend a couple of friends of mine linked to that post from Facebook. I also commented about it in AP Boardwalk, and In! Asbury. Both Facebook groups about … Asbury Park, NJ. In a private note someone sent me. they relayed a story…Continue Reading “The Clash @ Asbury Park, NJ 1982 – The Lost Photos”

Asbury Park NJ

It’s memorial day weekend. It’s cold and it’s gray in Seattle. Forecast? Rain! Rain! Rain! Go figure! I always have to remind myself. Joe. There are other parts of the world where the forecast is … sun, sun, sun & fun, fun, fun! Like. Wait for it. Asbury Park, NJ! ; ) Asbury Park, NJ? Really? Yeah … really! We have history. We have rapport. Though we’ve been estranged, we’re not irreconcilable. I’ve paid my dues in purgatory. Now I want my reborn “city in…Continue Reading “Trading Places: Destination Asbury Park, NJ”

3 musketeers

Should I stay … or should I go. It was the question I asked before the fateful trip. The Asbury excursion. The one to reunite the three. In my heart I was waiting for this moment. I couldn’t be in attendance last year. But this year I WANTED to be there. I hadn’t seen any of them since the mid-nineteen-eighties. For argument’s sake and our love of round numbers I’ll call it twenty-five. Had it been that long? Maybe. Maybe more. Even our collective (failing)…Continue Reading “The 3 Musketeers – Asbury Park, NJ 2010 – The Story Continues”

Clash Asbury

This is a public service announcement. With guitar … You have the right to free Speech as long as you’re not Dumb enough to actually try it … Strummer/Jones Updated 6/2/2011: Twelve “lost” photos added to live and party photos. In 1982 while most of the first-gen punk bands withered on the vine and died, The Clash were starting a world tour behind their fifth album “Combat Rock”. As a long time Clash fan … it’s not one of my faves. But it’s certainly not…Continue Reading “The Clash @ Asbury Park Convention Hall 1982”

Smoots Card

It was sometime in the summer of 1982. Cande Brought aka Cande Roth of Shadow Traffic fame called me. I hadn’t heard from her since we graduated from CW Post Center out on Long Island. Then again, after graduation my friend Charley Maria and I did a month long trip to England & France. It was all business the first week. I had hot hot hot photos of the Clash at the start of their Combat Rock tour which started at the Asbury Park Convention…Continue Reading “Junior Smoots And The Disturbers”
