Rock & Roll Tour Of The Jersey Shore Volume 4 - Including photos by Joe Streno.I’m so excited and I just can’t hide it! Just got 3 copies of the new book— “Rock & Roll Tour Of The Jersey Shore Volume 4” by Stan Goldstein and Jean Mikle. I didn’t buy these shiny new copies. Stan Goldstein a fellow Jersey Shore resident and co-creator of the book series, dropped them off personally. Why? Because I have several color photos of the Clash and Billy Idol in “Rock & Roll Tour Of The Jersey Shore Volume 4″!

As the cover copy proclaims:

Your guide and map to the places Bruce Springsteen, Southside Johnny, Jon Bon Jovi and others made famous (and not so famous) at the Jersey Shore.

This is not the first time my photos have been in print, but it is the first book my photos were reproduced in color. It’s actually quite nice to see.

This is the first time that authors Goldstein and Mikle have reproduced color photographs in the book series. I am doubly honored that they asked to purchase my photos for inclusion in the book, and to be the lead photos in the new color section.

On pages 110 and 111 of Rock & Roll Tour Of The Jersey Shore Volume 4 are my Clash photos from the Clash private party thrown for friends and the press at the Asbury Amusement Casino in 1982, after the third and final show of their three day stint. On page 112 you’ll find a photo of Billy Idol I took at the The Fast Lane in Asbury Park circa 1982.

The book as a whole, really is a tour of the places and history of the Jersey Shore music scene. It’s nice to see Goldstein and Mikle expanding and including other bands besides the staples— Springsteen, Southside Johhny, and Bon Jovi. Hopefully in Volume 5 we will see even more!

I also have to give a tip of my hat to the authors, because this is a self published book, encompassing  and detailing a subject they are quite passionate about. It’s amazing that they have been able to amass all the photos and stories in this book. And in that spirit of people creating something they are passionate about … if you decide you’d like to own a copy of this book, I’d urge you to buy it directly from the authors’ website. The book can also be bought via Amazon, but the authors make very little money from each sale through Amazon. And if you are like me and would like to see Rock & Roll Tour Of The Jersey Shore Volume 5, it’s in all our best interest to buy directly from the authors.
