Gym Life – Week 9
At the end of one of my workouts last week I talked to one of the trainers at LA Fitness. What I found out, I didn’t like. The cost was rather prohibitive & I had to sign up for “X” amount of months and chose “Y” number of sessions per month. Plus I had to pay a $149.00 fee up front. Um … I don’t think so. So I did ask for my one free session.
On that following Monday Meadow worked me out. He was nice enough to put together a group of exercises for the entire week, even though he was only training me for one day. It was a good 30 minute workout of “super sets.” By the time I was done … I WAS DONE! So job well done Mr Meadow!
The remainder of the week I followed Meadow’s workouts and that was that. But previous to all this I had been looking at a book from the Men’s Health website called “The TNT Diet” by Jeff Volek, PhD, RD, and Adam Campbell. I broke down and bought it that same week. The book is a high protein low carb diet coupled with weight training. I figured … I have nothing to lose except the weight.
Chris & I started the plan on Sunday the 27th. We did our first workouts this past Monday. Now the bizarre thing is I had weighed myself either Saturday or Sunday morning and I was still 265 lbs. The same I had been for weeks before. I weighed myself this morning … just for kicks … I was 260 lbs. HUH!?! WHAT!?! I stepped off the scale, adjusted it, poked it, prodded it, stepped back on … and wouldn’t you know … 260lbs. I lost 5 lbs of fat in just a few days. That’s crazy! But I’ll take it. Because 198 lbs is a ways off. Sixty two pounds off. But hey … I have now lost 20 lbs in 9 weeks. I’m pumped! Both physically and mentally.
And so it goes in week 9 of my gym life. Pretty good if I do say so myself. More in the weeks to come.
